A bit about our Journey...
Founded as Thinque Consulting in Seattle in 2004, we partnered with a diverse group of technology start-ups and partnered with VCs to help build their portfolio companies. We matched and placed leadership talent (Director - C-level) across all organization verticals. These companies ranged in size and funding from pre-seed to post-series E and were 5-500 employees.
I decided to truly understand what it takes to be an exceptional executive to help provide better service to my clients and honestly talk the talk with the candidates to make our matches even more of a fit. So, I paused and became more hands-on. For the past 15 years, I’ve held roles internally as the Head of People Operations, owning both Talent Acquisition and HR at a myriad of rapidly growing technology start-ups (all with an international footprint), including Livemocha buuteeq, Glowforge, Wyze, Postclick. I built the global People and Leadership teams and played a pivotal role in several acquisitions.
Rebranded as The UpGroup in 2022, my team and I are back to our passion for partnering with executive teams within technology start-ups to navigate Hyper-Growth and successfully partner as your Executive People Team.​ We are sustainable and female-owned!

Retained Executive Search:
A retained search is characterized by a company selecting one firm to manage the search process. This firm will be the only one working on the search. Since this is an exclusive relationship, the client knows the firm will make its search a top priority to drive efficient results. This service is for leadership roles from Director through the C Suite. We can also assist with finding Board Members and Advisors. We are committed to providing exceptional service and support to every client and guarantee to not over-commit and always produce extraordinary talent. If we don't - we will terminate our contract and refund any fee already paid.
Exclusive Contingent Recruiting:
Exclusive Contingent Recruiting is where you hire us to fill hard roles from IC up to Director, across all verticals from technical and product to go-to-market roles. We are the only agency hired and we work on your roles exclusively; we only get paid for the success of each placement. There are huge benefits in working this way over contingent recruitment. Namely that we are all more invested and spend more time working on the roles and as a result, you get a better quality hire at the end of the process. For multiple and exclusive searches, we offer a discounted fee to our typical rates.

Specialized Recruitment Solutions (Container):
Our mission is to be your trusted people partner, and we know each start-up has different needs. Hence, we offer a hybrid search service between two standard recruitment models: contingency and retained. Working exclusively, clients pay a monthly retainer and receives a discounted rate per placement for talent across all levels, functions, and geographies. This service is typically for early - to mid-stage companies that want to hand off the people function to a successful professional who can get the job done effectively and quickly, so you can focus on building the business of your growing company.

People+Organization Consulting: We are here for you every step of the way with a suite of high-touch, hands-on services to support you and your organization during growth, including building out your people department, creating and implementing a stand-out, effective T&A program, selecting and implementing HRIS, ATS systems, Executive and Management Coaching and T&D, Culture Fusion for Global Unification, Values Refresh, DEI&B, and more.
